The Bipolar Soliloquies

by: Ayanna Nahmias

Do you know anyone with Bipolar? You probably do without realizing it. And yet, in America we have become intimately acquainted with stereotypical portrayals of people suffering from Bipolar. In movies and magazines, we are portrayed as manic at worse, eclectic and the life of the party at best. But, have you ever wondered what the internal landscape is for a person who lives with this condition prior to diagnosis and treatment? Once you have read “The Bipolar Soliloquies” you can answer ‘yes.’

Through poetry and prose take a journey into a mind grappling with life experiences as an undiagnosed person who also struggles with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). “The Bipolar Soliloquies” shares the long journey toward a successful life without the fear or stigma of living with the condition. Ayanna Nahmias reveals that living with Bipolar II is not a debilitating condition, and though not optimal, it does provide the rich soil from which creativity sprouts and grows.
